I will be [bolting/departing/breaking camp/clearing out/heading for the hills/hitting the road/hightailing it/skedaddling/vamoosing/making a break for it/making tracks/running away to] Flagstaff, Arizona in a few weeks. I’ll be shoreless for many months, so I’m planning as many beach days as I can manage before I go.

My sisters and I went walking this afternoon along the beach at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We left our assorted New Balance shoes (the preferred shoe of the old and nearly old) against the dune retention fence, and enjoyed warm sand between our toes. The water is still a bit too cold for wading.

All of the photos in today’s set were taken at First Landing, at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
