Saguaro blossom (Carnegiea gigantea), seen wherever you turn these days, though this specimen was in the Superstition Wilderness Area of Tonto National Forest, in Pinal County, Arizona.

Once you see it: The stigma emerging at the center of this flower looks to me like a graceful, ghostly hand. Too many fingers, but I see what I see.

The ephemeral pools and watercourse at the end of the Hieroglyphic Trail, in the Superstition Wilderness Area, Tonto National Forest, in Pinal County, Arizona.

The boulders beside the pools are covered with ancient Hohokam petroglyphs.

In the distance are homes in the community of Gold Canyon, Arizona. Though not visible in this photo, with binoculars I was able to see the peak of Mount Lemon, 85 miles (140 km) across the San Tan Valley to the south.
