(Pachydiplax longipennis) on a ku’ipad –  a harvesting stick used by the Tohono O’odham people to gather the fruits of saguaro cactus (bahidaj). The 

ku’ipad is about 20 feet long (6 meters) and made of saguaro cactus ribs wired together, with crosspieces to jostle the the fruits, which are caught in buckets or baskets. At the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona.
