Soon after I spotted this pair they were also discovered by all of the local little birds, who began a futile mobbing campaign. The Gila woodpeckers seemed especially agitated to find the owls in their neighborhood. Their alarm cries weren’t very effectual, except to keep the owls alert, which was a help for my picture taking.
