Chet Baker: “Embraceable You”
Tag: music
A song for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the age of Trump.
Mr. Backlash, Mr. Backlash
Just what do you think I got to lose
I’m gonna leave you
With the backlash blues
You’re the one will have the blues
Not me, just wait and see
“Backlash Blues,” by Nina Simone, on Sings the Blues, 1967. The lyrics for this song were written by her friend, Langston Hughes.

One minute and thirty-four seconds of Elgar visualized.
Especially for Paul.
“Elevazione for Cello and Oboe” by Domenico Zipoli, with Robert Haydon-Clark conducting the Consort of London. I have searched futilely for recording information and found only that the cellist is Robert Truman, but I have no idea who the oboist is, nor when it was recorded. It really doesn’t matter (except that people should be credited for their artistry) because it is beautiful, and soul-soothing.
