Joshua Tree National Park, California.
I started planning my trip to Joshua Tree for the spring wildflower bloom over a year ago. I was not disappointed. The bajadas that fan out from the south slopes of the Cottonwood and Eagle Mountains on the south boundary of the park were brushed with gold. In this photo the sandy ground is carpeted with desert dandelions, chia, and Joshua Tree poppies (Eschscholzia androuxii).
