If someone snaps your olive branch then you are surely allowed to poke them with the broken end.

Coffee break.
I’ll be attending to other important things (life) for a few weeks. Fresh posts will resume then.
Ciao!

Rose-breasted grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) in a gooseberry thicket. At Wehr Nature Center at Whitnall Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I saw grosbeaks on the first day of my Great Lakes excursion, and this one on the last day, just hours before my flight home. They make nice bookends for a memorable trip, and a good way to end this very long series.

Prairie trillium (Trillium recurvatum), at Wehr Nature Center at Whitnall Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Trillium grandiflorum at Wehr Nature Center at Whitnall Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

True or false?
False rue anemone (Enemion biternatum), at Wehr Nature Center at Whitnall Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Update: I originally mis-captioned this as rue anemone (Thalictrum thalictroides), but had a change of heart. I should have counted the flowers’ naughty bits, as Linnaeus taught us.

Largeflower bellwort (Uvularia grandiflora), at Wehr Nature Center at Whitnall Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
