Tea time.

Jin xuan tea (金萱, milk oolong), at the Ming Tao Xuan tea house in Montreal. This is my favorite tea, with a delicate creamy flavor, and hints of very ripe pineapple or peaches.

Ming Tao Xuan is full of glass-fronted cabinets displaying the owner’s large collection of Asian ceramics, so the space feels a bit like a museum―much to catch one’s eye, but still quiet and calming.

The tea and service were exemplary. It was a wonderful retreat from the cold and rain on my first day in the city. I lingered for a cozy hour with my pot of tea.
